Hungarian pianist Csanád Barbarics has appeared on international stages across Europe, Asia, and the United States, with performances in Budapest, Vienna, Kraków, Barcelona, Eisenstadt, Hanoi, and the USA. Highlights include solo recitals at Aula Florianka (Kraków), the Opera Piano Salon (Budapest), and the Káli Klasszik Festival (2024), as well as festival appearances at the Cziffra 100 Celebration, the Rolla János Music Days, and the Duettissimo International Duo Festival.
In 2022, Csanád had the opportunity to work with Kossuth and Liszt Prize–winning conductor Kálmán Záborszky. In 2025, he made his U.S. debut with a solo recital in Johnson City (TN) and appeared at the American Liszt Society’s annual Liszt Festival – "Liszt and Women", held at East Tennessee State University (ETSU). As a chamber musician and collaborative pianist, he has performed at Solti Hall of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, the House of Hungarian Music in Budapest, and at international venues abroad.
Csanád has distinguished himself in numerous prestigious international competitions. He won Third Prize at the Knoxville International Piano Festival & Competition, received an Honorary Mention at the Ocean Music International Piano Competition in New York, and was named an Alternate Finalist at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. He was a finalist at the International Piano Competition “Recondite Armonie” (Italy, 2023), won Second Prize in both chamber music and piano four-hands at the Danubia Talents “Wiener Klassiker” Competition (2021), Second Prize at the International Danubia Talents Competition (2020), and First Prize at the Béla Bartók International Piano Competition in Vienna (2011). Additional awards include prizes at the Cziffra György National Piano Competition, the Ferenczy György Piano Competition, and the National Piano Competition in Békéscsaba.
In recognition of his artistic and academic achievements, Csanád has been the recipient of several scholarships and honors, including the Powell Steinway Scholarship and Creative Arts Scholarship at East Tennessee State University, a four-time recipient of the NTP–NFTÖ National Talent Program Scholarship, the “Zeneakadémia Baráti Köre” Scholarship, and appointment as a Junior Ambassador of the Wacław Felczak Foundation (2020).
Csanád completed a preparatory program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (2018–2019), studying with Zoltán Füzesséry. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest (2019–2022) under the guidance of Attila Némethy, László Baranyay, and Dávid Báll.
From 2022 to 2024, he pursued his Master’s degree at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, studying with Professor Andrzej Pikul and Mateusz Zubik. He is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Piano Performance at East Tennessee State University, where he studies with Dr. Éva Polgár.
He has further refined his artistry through masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Tamás Vásáry, Alan Chow, Tobias Koch, Konstanze Eickhorst, Michael Wessel, Stefan Stroissnig, Ralf Heiber, Kálmán Dráfi, Gereon Kleiner, Károly Mocsár, Ryan Fogg, and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and currently is a selected mentee of Krisztina Fejes pianist - HU (Fejes Academy).
